Australian printmaker Trudy Rice is revered for her material sensitivity, delicately layered imagery and deep connection to the natural world. With a background in fashion, art education and teaching, Rice’s work draws largely from personal experience.

Rice’s ‘The Youngan Seahorse’ is a delicate impression of the regenerative cycles of Australia’s diverse and majestic marine life. One of Rice’s more tender works, this print adopts a deep, yet striking blue to subtly merge the innocence of the seahorse with the sensitivity of familial bonds - a deep form of connection that spans across all life forms. Embracing the unpredictability of the print medium, Rice’s work is contemplative - capturing fleeting textures, spontaneity and fluidity to express the vitality yet innocence of new life.

Rice’s works are represented by Queenscliff Gallery in Victoria, and were exhibited in the gallery’s 2026 show ‘Homage to the Geelong Gallery’s Discovering the Impressionists’. She has also been featured in magazine Art New York. Rice’s work is held in public and private collections across Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
