Lisa Roet is an acclaimed Australian artist whose work often explores the complex relationship between humans and primates. Drawing from both experiences in her own life, and inspired by zoo residencies and field studies in Borneo, her multidisciplinary practice explores themes of evolution, communication, and the blurred boundaries between species.
In her 2021 bronze sculpture and wall-hanging 'Golden Monkey', Roet creates the impression of a monkey, caught mid-motion as he climbs. This figure speaks directly to the artist's enduring interest in primates, and is emblematic of her ability to infuse personality and life into her animal works. Roet has become well known for her 'golden monkey' series, particularly her large-scale installations that have been placed on buildings world-wide.
With over two decades of exhibitions in Australia and internationally, Roet has received numerous prestigious awards and is widely recognised for her significant contribution to contemporary art. For collectors of sculptural works, or those fascinated by influential contemporary artists, Roet's works are a joy to discover.
