David Rose was a renowned Australian artist. His work is characterised by grace and elegance, sweeping lines capturing the grandeur of the landscape, a tree or body. In ‘Model with Cushion’, he captures a figure from the back. The freedom of his line recalls Brett Whiteley; under Rose’s hand, life is silken.

A foremost figure in Australian printmaking, Rose is represented at the National Gallery of Victoria. In his tribute to the artist, fellow printmaker Peter Pinson remarks “if you have something to say, do so with a sense of joy, just as David Rose would have done.” For collectors of prints and nudes, ‘Model with Cushion’ - enjoy!
