David Rose was a renowned Australian artist. His work is characterised by grace and elegance, sweeping lines capturing the grandeur of the landscape, a tree or body. In ‘Model with Cushion’, he captures a figure from the back. The freedom of his line recalls Brett Whiteley; under Rose’s hand, life is silken.

A foremost figure in Australian printmaking, Rose is represented at the National Gallery of Victoria.
