Mark Schaller was a founding member of Roar Studios, one of Melbourne’s earliest artist-run-initiatives. Conceived as a roar against the art establishment, Schaller and his comrades set about disrupting the art world status quo.
In his role, Schaller produces distinctive, experimental and whimsical imagery. Covering everything from his backyard to the divine female energy, his work fuses funk with cubism, neo-expressionism with a twist of something uncategorizable.
Bright, bold and recognisably Schaller, ‘Magenta Cup’ is a stellar find for collectors of Roar, still life and saturated art.
