One of the founders of Melbourne’s Roar collective, Mark Schaller’s work is like jazz. Cool, free-flowing and vibrant, he creates to its own beat – finding rhythm in unexpected subjects. Here, he presents a curling, ferocious wave. More like a superhero’s cape than a day at the beach, ‘Tsunamai (sic)’ is a compositional wipe out. Schaller is a highly respected Australian artist. He is represented at the National Gallery of Victoria and has a hotel in Bendigo, The Schaller Studio, dedicated to him.
