Sophia Szilagyi is a highly-renowned mid-career contemporary artist based in Melbourne. Szilagyi predominately works within the realm of digital printmaking and photography, creating beautifully intimate and introspective compositions representing the natural world.

In ‘Before Dark,’ Szilagyi creates the impression of a canopy of trees caught in the fleeting light of day. Possessing a strong command of tone and composition, this work is instantly atmospheric. In this work, as in much of Szilagyi's practice, the artist explore the everchanging effects that light has on our perception of the Australian landscape.

Szilagyi holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from RMIT and has an extensive exhibition history in Australia and abroad. She is the recipient of the Banyule Award for Works on Paper, and represented in numerous public collections, including Artbank, State Library of Victoria, Print Council of Australia, Gippsland Art Gallery and the Queensland University of Technology Art Museum.

For lovers and collectors of contemporary prints and landscapes, the works of Sophia Szilagyi are a wonderful addition to any collection.
