The internationally renowned John Tiplady is celebrated world over for his paintings of sunlit vistas and bucolic settings. Born in England in 1938 and practicing predominantly in Australia, Tiplady follows the conventions of the Impressionists he trained under, whilst also blending in more contemporary stylistic choices.

Like many of his paintings, Tiplady’s triptych ‘The Hunt Club Outing’ celebrates the bounty of nature in all its glory. Using golden hues, Tiplady depicts a richly aristocratic scene - men on horseback gallop through a forest pursuing an unknown prey. The loose Impressionistic brushstrokes evoke the atmosphere of the scene, where the bolder colour palette imbues the artwork with a contemporary sensibility.

A finalist of the Wynne prize in 1969, Tiplady has exhibited prolifically throughout Australia. This painting would be a striking addition to any collectors of landscape paintings, and especially those whose aesthetics straddle the nexus of traditional and contemporary.
