The Chinese-born, Australia-based painter, sculptor, and ceramicist, Guan Wei has garnered curatorial and popular collectors’ following for his social and political critiques couched in the visual language which conflates Asian and Western-European influences. His works often center on themes of isolation, rejection, and otherness. They are populated with almost cartoon-like figures with a strong sense of irony and whimsy, which give them a powerful emotional resonance. Winner of numerous art awards and prizes, and the subject of survey exhibitions and important site-specific commissions, the artist’s works have been acquired by the National Gallery of Australia, National Gallery of Victoria, numerous state, regional, and tertiary collections as well as prominent corporate and private collections in Australia and abroad. Guan Wei is represented by ARC One in Melbourne and Martin Browne Contemporary in Sydney.

This elegant and whimsical artwork would be a fitting addition to both budding and established collections of contemporary art.
