Jessi Wong contemporary artist living and working in Melbourne, whose practice incorporates printmaking, collage, installation and works on paper. With a distinct visual language that favours pattern and composition, Wong challenges traditional boundaries of printmaking and replication, often using collage to create layered works of striking visual complexity. Central to her practice is a fascination with the organic forms found in nature, with many of her works drawing inspiration from celestial skies, woodgrain patterns, and striated rock formations.

In Wong’s ‘Across the universe XXI’, the artist layers her woodblock print with pen and collage to create a work that is intimately textured and bursting with vibrant colour and energy. In vivid greens, this work appears both abstracted and familiar - organic forms floating across an ambiguous landscape. Through her use of varying patterns and forms, Wong harnesses the frenetic energy of the natural world, imbuing her scene with a distinct sense of movement.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Printmaking) from RMIT in 2005, Wong has exhibited extensively across Australia in both solo and group exhibitions. She has been a finalist in several prestigious national print prizes, including the Fremantle Print Award in 2023. Her work is held in numerous public collections throughout Australia, as well as internationally in China, Greece, Canada, and the USA. For collectors of innovative contemporary printmaking, Wong's works offer a compelling exploration of the natural world.
