Jessi Wong contemporary artist living and working in Melbourne, whose practice incorporates printmaking, collage, installation and works on paper. With a distinct visual language that favours pattern and composition, Wong challenges traditional boundaries of printmaking and replication, often using collage to create layered works of striking visual complexity. Central to her practice is a fascination with the organic forms found in nature, with many of her works drawing inspiration from star-filled skies, woodgrain patterns, and striated rock formations.

In ‘Across the Universe XIX’, Wong creates a vivid impression of a mountainous landscape beneath a sky populated by otherworldly orbs and floating, cloud-like forms. The scene feels at once familiar and unrecognisable, emerging from the artist’s imagination while remaining connected to the natural forms and landscapes that inspire her practice. Through a rich interplay of pattern, texture, and layered mark-making, Wong constructs a visually complex world that exists somewhere between the terrestrial and the celestial.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Printmaking) from RMIT in 2005, Wong has exhibited extensively across Australia in both solo and group exhibitions. She has been a finalist in several prestigious national print prizes, including the Fremantle Print Award in 2023. Her work is held in numerous public collections throughout Australia, as well as internationally in China, Greece, Canada, and the USA. For collectors of innovative contemporary printmaking, Wong's works offer a compelling exploration of the natural world.
