Jessi Wong contemporary artist living and working in Melbourne, whose practice incorporates printmaking, collage, installation and works on paper. With a distinct visual language that favours pattern and composition, Wong challenges traditional boundaries of printmaking and replication, often using collage to create layered works of striking visual complexity. Central to her practice is a fascination with the organic forms found in nature, with many of her works drawing inspiration from celestial skies, woodgrain patterns, and striated rock formations.

In her 2023 work ‘Galaxies’, Wong creates an abstracted landscape layered with colour, texture, and intricate variations of pattern. Through organic forms and expressive mark-making, the work evokes the geological strata of the earth - a kind of topographical survey rendered through the combined processes of woodblock printing, collage, and pen. Wong’s careful interplay of material and surface transforms the landscape into something both familiar and otherworldly, revealing the rhythms and structures found within the natural world.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Printmaking) from RMIT in 2005, Wong has exhibited extensively across Australia in both solo and group exhibitions. She has been a finalist in several prestigious national print prizes, including the Fremantle Print Award in 2023. Her work is held in numerous public collections throughout Australia, as well as internationally in China, Greece, Canada, and the USA. For collectors of innovative contemporary printmaking, Wong's works offer a compelling exploration of the natural world.
