Jessi Wong contemporary artist living and working in Melbourne, whose practice incorporates printmaking, collage, installation and works on paper. With a distinct visual language that favours pattern and composition, Wong challenges traditional boundaries of printmaking and replication, often using collage to create layered works of striking visual complexity. Central to her practice is a fascination with the organic forms found in nature, with many of her works drawing inspiration from celestial skies, woodgrain patterns, and striated rock formations.

In her 2023 work on canvas ‘Midnight in a perfect world V’, Wong creates the impression of a mountainous landscape, sitting under the watchful eye of a perfectly rounded moon. Through woodgrain texture and hand-drawn marks, Wong uses patterns and texture to craft a sweeping, otherworldly terrain, reminiscent of a distant, imagined planet. The work beautifully encapsulates Wong's enduring fascination with star-filled skies and the organic forms of the natural world, inviting viewers into a landscape that feels both familiar and fantastical.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Printmaking) from RMIT in 2005, Wong has exhibited extensively across Australia in both solo and group exhibitions. She has been a finalist in several prestigious national print prizes, including the Fremantle Print Award in 2023. Her work is held in numerous public collections throughout Australia, as well as internationally in China, Greece, Canada, and the USA.
