Jessi Wong contemporary artist living and working in Melbourne, whose practice incorporates printmaking, collage, installation and works on paper. With a distinct visual language that favours pattern and composition, Wong challenges traditional boundaries of printmaking and replication, often using collage to create layered works of striking visual complexity. Central to her practice is a fascination with the organic forms found in nature, with many of her works drawing inspiration from celestial skies, woodgrain patterns, and striated rock formations.

In her 2023 work ‘Rising Sun’, Wong evokes the image of a radiant sun emerging above an undulating landscape, heralding the beginning of a new day. Composed through a rich interplay of pattern and texture, the work recalls the visual language of Japanese woodblock prints - a tradition deeply intertwined with the history of printmaking. Hand-drawn marks and the distinctive grain of the woodblock infuse the composition with a palpable sense of movement and vitality, transforming the landscape into one that feels both organic and alive.

Since graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Art (Printmaking) from RMIT in 2005, Wong has exhibited extensively across Australia in both solo and group exhibitions. She has been a finalist in several prestigious national print prizes, including the Fremantle Print Award in 2023. Her work is held in numerous public collections throughout Australia, as well as internationally in China, Greece, Canada, and the USA. For collectors of innovative contemporary printmaking, Wong's works offer a compelling exploration of the natural world.
