Sophie Zelder is a Melbourne-based printmaker and artist whose practice often explores the possibilities of woodcut printmaking and Mokulito, a form of Japanese wood lithography. Botanical subjects feature prominently throughout her work, with Zelder often allowing the natural grain of the wood to become a visual ‘collaborator’. The texture and organic patterns of her chosen medium are integrated into each composition, lending her prints a distinctive sense of depth, movement, and tactility.

In 'Blue Ginger', Zelder offers an energetic and atmospheric interpretation of the natural world. Rendered in a striking monochromatic palette of deep blue and stark white, the artist captures an evocative botanical scene imbued with the quiet romance of moonlight.
