Cliff Jones
Cliff Jones was a highly accomplished printmaker and artist. He was born in England and relocated to Perth, Western Australia, in 1958. In 1970, art historian Bernard Smith awarded him the best Australian entry in the Perth Drawing International.
Jones is best known for his transcendent landscapes and surrealism, the former characterised by colour gradations. In the seamless undulation from pinks to yellows, green, blue and white lies his mastery; and in his liquid surrealism lies his vast imagination. These are meditative images, grounded in an impressive grasp of his medium.
Jones is represented in multiple public collections including the Art Gallery of Western Australia and the National Gallery of Australia. He is the recipient of multiple printmaking awards and has exhibited widely.
