Hyunju Kim is a South Korean-born, Melbourne-based artist who works with etching and drawing to represent scenes of magical realism. Her highly intricate works rely on colour and pattern to create magical worlds that question our perception of reality. Hyunju completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Dankook University in Korea in 2005 before doing a Master of Fine Arts between 2007-2009, specialising in printmaking. Many of Hyunju’s works draw inspiration from her experiences living and working overseas.

Hyunju has exhibited her works both nationally and internationally, and she has lived, exhibited and undertaken residencies in over sixteen countries. In 2022, her artwork was chosen for the Beijing Winter Olympics Print Portfolio, and she was a finalist in the International Print Biennial at the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts.
