Isabelle Chouinard
Isabelle Chouinard is a Melbourne-based artist and musician born in Montreal, Canada, best known for her still life paintings. Initially interested in music, Chouniard graduated from the Conservatoire de Musique de Montreal in 1995, and later pursued a Master of Music degree from Rice University (USA) in 1998. She then moved to Australia, where she spent several years in Sydney working as a musician.
Having created paintings and drawings her whole life, Chouniard turned to the visual arts in 2006 and enrolled in the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney that year. Five years later, she furthered her formal training at the Atelier de Bresole in Montreal and at Studio Escalier in Paris between 2012-2017.
Chouinard has held exhibitions of her works across Australia. She has been a finalist in several art awards and prizes throughout her career, including the Portia Geach Memorial Prize in Sydney and the Bayside Painting Prize in Melbourne in 2025.
