In the early 1990s, David Boyd took up a residency at Macquarie University’s School of Law. Known for his unflinching examinations of Australian culture, this series saw him turn to the law. Cleverly, he juxtaposes a judge with a clown - suggesting a link between these characters. Crestfallen, they unite in a dance of absurdity.
Boyd traverses themes with dexterity and wit. He was a master potter, painter and printmaker, who is represented in all state collections and continues to resonate throughout Australia today.
