Evie Cahir is a contemporary Melbourne-based artist who is best known for her vibrant and atmospheric works on paper. Drawing inspiration from Fauvism, Cahir’s bold and emotive colour palette has become a central expressive force. Her enigmatic practice often explores how we experience space, both visually and physically.

In her 2018 work 'Berlin', Cahir composes a scene that is instantly atmospheric- friends sitting around a table, deep in conversation. A pencil on paper work, Cahir elevates the everyday to something visually poetic. Rather than observing as a voyeur, the viewer feels gently welcomed into the scene, immersed into the warmth that feels instantly familiar. 

Cahir’s work has been exhibited at Ballarat Art Gallery, Castlemaine Art Museum, and Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf. She has been a finalist in several art prizes, including the Hazelhurst Works on Paper Art Prize in 2025. For collectors of contemporary works on paper, or those enamored with contemporary Australian artists, Cahir’s works are a compelling addition to any collection.
