Evie Cahir

Evie Cahir is a Melbourne-based artist who is best known for her vibrant works on paper. Growing up in Mount Pleasant, Ballarat, Cahir completed a degree in Illustration at the Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE in 2013. She has since exhibited across Australia, with her enigmatic practice often exploring how we experience space, both visually and physically.

Drawing inspiration from Fauvism, an art movement characterised by its emphasis on bold use of colour, Cahir is best known for her highly gestural works that employ vibrant, expressive colours. Working with gels, gouache, hand-ground pigments and acrylic paint, Cahir creates atmospheric works representing intimate, light-filled scenes of contemporary life.

Cahir’s works have featured in solo and group exhibitions across urban and regional Australia, including in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney, Ballarat and Castlemaine. She has been a finalist in several art competitions Australia-wide, and was a finalist in the 2025 Hazlehurst Works on Paper Art Prize, the 2024 Greenway Art Prize and the 2023 Elaine Bermingham Watercolour Prize. In 2025, Cahir was the collaborating artist for Melbourne-based brand Tsu Lange Yor.
