Evie Cahir is a contemporary Melbourne-based artist who is best known for her vibrant and atmospheric works on paper. Drawing inspiration from Fauvism, Cahir’s bold and emotive colour palette has become a central expressive force. Her enigmatic practice often explores how we experience space, both visually and physically.

In her 2025 work ‘Clem reaching into the oven to take out the granola’, Cahir composes a scene that is instantly evocative. Representing an everyday domestic moment, Cahir transforms the ordinary into something intimate and quietly compelling, drawing directly from her personal perspective. In this work, the artist’s ability to create atmosphere is central to the work; rather than observing as a voyeur, the viewer feels gently welcomed into the scene, immersed into the warmth of the kitchen.

Cahir’s work has been exhibited at Ballarat Art Gallery, Castlemaine Art Museum, and Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf. She has been a finalist in several art prizes, including the Hazelhurst Works on Paper Art Prize in 2025. For collectors of contemporary works on paper, or those enamored with contemporary Australian artists, Cahir’s works are a compelling addition to any collection.
