Evie Cahir is a contemporary Melbourne-based artist who is best known for her vibrant and atmospheric works on paper. Drawing inspiration from Fauvism, Cahir’s bold and emotive colour palette has become a central expressive force. Her enigmatic practice often explores how we experience space, both visually and physically.
In her 2022 work ‘First Tulips of the Season’, Cahir creates a vibrant, gestural composition infused with a strong sense of springtime vitality. Using oil stick, gouache and pastel on paper, she builds layers of colour and texture that feel both spontaneous and carefully resolved. The result demonstrates Cahir’s ability to balance compositional harmony with a dynamic, energetic surface.
Cahir’s work has been exhibited at Ballarat Art Gallery, Castlemaine Art Museum, and Woollahra Gallery at Redleaf. She has been a finalist in several art prizes, including the Hazelhurst Works on Paper Art Prize in 2025. For collectors of contemporary works on paper, or those enamored with contemporary Australian artists, Cahir’s works are a compelling addition to any collection.
