These themes reflect on her background being raised in a cross-cultural household, where Caprice sought comfort in being an “adaptable misfit.” Her fantastical creatures are an ode to self-acceptance.
Caprice’s 2022 etching “So long” features a hybrid cat looking up at a sky filled with flying creatures seemingly elevated by mushroom balloons. This expansive print is otherworldly, picturing a starry night sky where this rooftop scene could be nothing more than a dream. The intricate details of this print speak to Caprice’s careful, detail-oriented craftsmanship. While uncanny in appearance, these creatures’ search for connection is undeniably human, saturating this print with a strong feeling of warmth and affection.
Caprice has been listed as a finalist in several notable art prizes, including the National Capital Art Prize, Hornsby Art Prize and Geelong Gallery Acquisitive Print Award. She was the recipient of the prestigious Honours Fine Art Travelling Award by RMIT on completion of her degree.
