John Cullinane’s work is drawn from media, books, stories and observed moments. He conjures an atmosphere, mise en scenes that are rich in feeling and narrative. Before his work viewers are compelled to ponder, allowing their mind to wind up, as the artist describes, “in a place that they would have never considered… “Hey, how did I get here?””.

In the cinematic ‘No Place to Go’, a ripened balloon hovers above the landscape. Is it departing or arriving? Poetically titled, Cullinane’s work teeters between reticence and hope; this work could be the opening of an adventure or a farewell, allowing the viewer to tell their own story.
