Warren Cooke

Warren Cooke is a contemporary printmaker and artist based on the Mornington Peninsula. Drawing inspiration from the natural world around him, Cooke creates intimate portraits of his local area, capturing the chaos and vibrancy of the Victorian coastline.

Cooke has become best known for his printmaking practice that incorporates a reduction woodcut technique, often using recycled second-hand furniture as his matrix. This technique is visible across the surfaces of his prints, in some cases revealing the texture of the wood in the final print.

Cooke is an acclaimed printmaker, featuring in several Australian and international collections. Some notable career highlights include a solo exhibition at Benalla Regional Art Gallery and being recognised as a finalist in the Fremantle Print Prize, Burnie Print Prize and Silk Cut Awards.
